Education

Education in Malta is of a very high standard. The Government caters for free schooling for all children up to the age of 16. However there are a number of Private and Church schools that teach in English. Both curriculums are based on the English schooling system with O and A Level for entry into the Malta University. Due to the increasingly different cultures there are also a number of schools providing a baccalaureate curriculum for those wishing to study abroad.

The University of Malta is one of the oldest in Europe and offers a wide selection degrees specializing in doctors, lawyers, architects and now I.T. related courses. Besides these there are a number of colleges of further education dealing in specialised courses.

The Maltese are extremely well educated and because English is their second language they are very employable especially in the I.T. sectors. It has been confirmed that this was one of the reasons why a Smart City is to be established in the coming years
